Bionicle: Matoran Adventures is a platform jumping and unlocking passageways 2D action game released exclusively for the GameBoy Advance. It has a fun character-switching feature to help players advance through each of the six levels found in the game, but the gameplay is rather repetitive. It's not the best GBA action game but it surely worth a shot!

Bionicle Matoran AdventuresSTORY / GAMEPLAY
The game takes place during the Bohrok War (please don't ask me what war is this). At the beginning of the game you select one Matoran character from a list. Only one Matoran is available from the game's outset, Kongu and the rest of the Matorans become playable as the pieces of their masks are collected throughout the courses. You begin with Kongu, a Le-Koro native who looks like a turtle wearing a weird mask (a hockey mask maybe). Kongu must travel through Le-Wahi to find Turaga Matau (who is basically a similar, but taller, creature) and defeat the Bohrok and all the infected Rahi he finds along the way. Each of the two characters has different skill trees. Kongu defeats enemies with a Bamboo disk on his back and jumps high whilst Turaga can bust down walls and stand on switches but he can perform lower jumpss. At certain points you need to switch between the two in order to solve a (rather simple) puzzle like activating buttons for secret doors or destroying certain walls or floors to progress. During your quest you will encounter several enemies and cope with hazards such as flying insects, lava pools etc. The health bar can be restored by finding health packs (depicted as hearts) during your quest. The game is played with the GBA's D-pad, jumping with A button and attacking with B button while switching characters can be done with the left or right shoulder buttons. There is a total of 6 worlds to explore and in the end there is always a big boss waiing. Bionicle: Matoran Adventures is basically a simple action platform in which you hit a few switches, hop a few platforms.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The backgrounds are pretty detailed and so is your character and the rest of the sprites. The sprites are well designed and the animation is quite impressive and smooth. The environments are well rendered but the game gets rather flat and repetitive. There are even some special visual effects like sprite scaling but it's far from enough to give the game an eye-candy factor. The game's sound is OK but not enough to "stun" your ears. While the music is good, the sound effects may become really annoying after some minutes.
